Description
The R28 was an amp Matamp made in the early 2000’s. Upon its release, it received a 5* review from Guitarist Magazine, which was rare in those days. It is a blindingly good amp. The tone is sublime.
Featuring the classic Matamp tone by the bucketful (fantastic dynamic response, punchy mid range, voice EQ), massive reverb, High and Low inputs, and pentode/triode switch on the back to cut the output if you like (Matamps come up very loud). The reverb is huge.
Loaded with 2 Celestion Vintage 30’s.
Hand made at Matamp just outside Huddersfield. Built like a tank, point-to-point wiring. This amp is a gem – reluctant sale. It is my personal amplifier, not stock. I am not gigging anymore and for space and cash, have to move something on. Comes with custom fitted flight case. If you are not sure what the classic Matamp sound is, Orange has created their reputation and legendary status on it – Matamp designed and made the early Orange amps, prior to parting company in the mid 70’s. Orange went mass-production, Matamp continued to hand make amps without compromise in Yorkshire. Very little has changed since.
